How To Make DIY Miracle Bath Bombs For Cold And Flu Relief

Tech ZoneBy Tech Zone2021-05-075 Mins Read

A DIY bath bomb not only helps your body relax but can soak away achy flu and cold symptoms. Here’s a natural bath bomb recipe for cold and flu relief that you can easily make at home.

Amazing Benefits of DIY Bath Bombs

Instead of reaching for decongestants and pain relievers, add a fizzy bomb to your next bath. DIY bath bombs free of icky toxins and chemicals are sure to help your body relax and get a better night’s sleep. Especially, they can soak away achy flu and cold symptoms

A natural bath bomb made with soothing essential oils and sea salt or Epsom salts can reduce aches and pains. Along with fending off common pathogens, the inhalation of these essential oils can help ease symptoms like nausea and headaches. Pairing them with the steam from your hot bath will give your immune system the extra boost it needs to recuperate your body.

A bath bomb – a delightful chunk of good-smelling stuff that explodes into colorful fizz in your bathtub – is therefore, an awesome gift on any occasion.

How to Make DIY Bath Bombs

Bath bombs only take seconds to make, so it is important to have the ingredients on hand and measured before you start. Most of the ingredients are pantry staples in many homes, but make sure you have these on hand.

Tools:

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Bath bomb mold

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup Epsom salts
  • 2 T cream of tartar
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil or extract
  • 1/2 t coconut oil for greasing

This is where the options get endless. Use your favorite essential oils, add dried herbs, or make them scent-free. Some options are:

For the easiest version, just form these into balls with your hands, but if you are making them as gifts or just want fancier shapes, molds are the way to go.

Instructions:

To get started, combine the dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and whisk to blend. Add in the lavender and peppermint oil, then use a spray bottle to lightly moisten the mixture as you stir. Similar to wet sand, the final mixture should be crumbly and hold well when squeezed.

Next, lightly grease the bath bomb molds with coconut oil and use a spoon to scoop the mixture into each cavity. We recommend slightly overfilling each mold, then gently aligning one mold on top of the other. Press down firmly to combine both sides together.

Then, remove the top mold and transfer it to a cool place. Allow it to sit for at least six hours or overnight. Once complete, loosen each bomb from their respective cavities, one at a time. You’ll need to secure each bomb in your hand and tap on the bottom of the mold with a spoon to release it.

When ready to use, run a hot bath and add one bath bomb to the water. Allow the bomb to fizz and dissolve as you soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

How To Use DIY Bath Bombs

  1. Fill the bathtub with water. Fill it as deep as you like and choose a comfortable temperature. If you are going to leisure in the bath for longer, go for a bit hotter water, and to make your bathing session maximum relaxing, put a bath pillow into your tub.
  2. Drop the bomb of your choice into the water. Once in the water, it will start bubbling and fizzing and eventually, it will dissolve saturating the water with salts, butter, and essential oils sealed inside. How long does it take for a bath bomb to set? Usually, it is about several minutes. However, you are free to enter the tub when the bomb is still fizzing.
  3. Find a comfortable position and relax. You can either read a book, listen to your favorite music if you have a shower speaker, or simply lay back and plunge into serenity peacefully soaking in warm water and letting it ease your entire body.
  4. As the water naturally cools down, it is time to get out of the bathtub. You do not necessarily have to rinse in the shower after using a bath bomb. However, if you used a colored bomb, the one with glitter or a black bath bomb, it’s recommended to do so.
  5. When you drain the water, clean the tub if needed. Simply rinse it with warm water or use a brush or sponge to remove dye residues from the tub to prevent stains.

Making homemade bath bombs is a great project for kids to help with. Some DIY beauty recipes (especially homemade soap) require precise measuring and handling harsh chemicals such as lye, so they aren’t a great project to undertake with children around. These bath bombs are completely opposite and are an amazing project to do with kids.
